I would like to request for admin and interface admin rights for Tai Nuea Wikipedia. Thanks. Saimawnkham (talk) 23:05, 20 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Saimawnkham: There doesn't seem to be anyone who commented on the request, and your userpage doesn't state if you have any proficiency in Tai Nuea. Are you native in the language of the project? EPIC (talk) 21:55, 21 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hello , @Amire80:, @SatiGahi95:, @Ninjastrikers: How should i answer this question? Help me to explain. Thanks.Saimawnkham (talk) 01:41, 22 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hello @EPIC I hope you may checked my status and activities. As you may known that Tai Nuea language is the same language family of ours, Kra–Dai. As for that I can help tdd Wikipedia such as creating Templates, Modules and MediaWiki files those are essentially needed by tdd. If you assume I am not enough to help them let it be. May be I am less aware of protocol. Thanks. Saimawnkham (talk) 06:41, 22 December 2024 (UTC)
- I don't see any issues with granting the flags since you hold A/IA elsewhere, I only asked if you had proficiency in the language since there were no supports and you had 42 edits on the project (we have declined some similar requests in the past). I think we could close this as done if there are no objections, though. EPIC (talk) 07:37, 22 December 2024 (UTC)
- @EPICThanks. Saimawnkham (talk) 15:15, 22 December 2024 (UTC)
- It may be OK to grant temporary rights, but:
- An editor who actually knows the language should at least reply in the discussion.
- An editor who actually knows the language should be encouraged to become an administrator. Maybe @DaiMengMaoLong or @Yang Yan Ao Thuan.
- Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 14:04, 24 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Amire80, ideally, yes, that would be highly desirable. But it is not a requirement. That said of course people who have no proficiency in the language should only limit their help to things that do not require language proficiency unless they act in close cooperation with native or proficient speakers. --Base (talk) 17:59, 28 December 2024 (UTC)
- It may be OK to grant temporary rights, but:
- Hello, did you guys take a look some articles in tdd? Tdd doesn't even has commons files (*.js, *.css) on it. There are alot of interface issues. Who will fix it? I hope you guys doing something ASAP. Long waiting makes me lose faith to contribute that project. Thanks. Saimawnkham (talk) 23:38, 26 December 2024 (UTC)

- Saimawnkham,
Granted for 6 months to expire on 2025-08-08. To prolong your (interface) adminship, please start another election a few days before your temporary access expires, and after a week post your request again to this page. Thanks. As per above please make sure that you only help with technical things or work in close cooperation with someone that speaks tdd if you need to contribute some messages etc. Please also try to find some tdd speakers who could become administrators themselves, that said lack of such is not a blocker per our normal practices. --Base (talk) 18:05, 28 December 2024 (UTC)

For interface admin rights, please open a new local request with a clear mention that you are running for interface adminship, wait for at least a week and return here with a new request. (I am requesting for interface and general administrator rights for Luganda wikipedia. I'm a native fluent Luganda language speaker based in Uganda. Thank you.Geossegawa (talk) 18:05, 24 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Geossegawa: Do you have any experience in performing sysop/interface sysop tasks (and what tasks do you plan to perform)? Thanks! Superpes15 (talk) 21:35, 25 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Superpes15 as a professional and practicing librarian I believe I have the minimum experience required for the task. On the tasks I intend to perform, they are; 1. help improve on the Luganda language that is used on Luganda wikipedia to help ease editing and article creation (Luganda is a very vast and huge language but I found that most of the words used on the key features is very advanced that even a native who hasn't taken interest in studying the language can fail to understand what the words mean. I thus believe it's high time we changed such documentation to a more simpler and easily understandable Luganda) 2. We also face a challenge of templates much as they're several templates on the English wikipedia, the Luganda wiki lacks most of those . This in return has affected the quality of the articles on Luganda wikipedia. 3. There exists a number of auto translated articles that need to be improved but there are those that also need deletion completely. 4. The other issue is about our main page. The Luganda wikipedia currently has over 3300 articles but only a few (old) articles appear on the main page as feature articles day in day out. At times they don't even resonate with the current stories that people search about. To some of those articles, even when you improve their content the system continues to preview them in their old form. Thank you Geossegawa (talk) 05:11, 26 December 2024 (UTC)
- I am inclined to give you administrator rights for one month and then we can review how well it went for you. From what you wrote here it is not clear to me that you have a solid understanding of what administrators do (some of the things you have listed you can do without administrator flag), but I see no harm in letting you try and ask questions if you feel stuck with some problem. That said, as to the interface administrator rights, could you clarify what do you need those for and also if you have any understanding of CSS and JavaScript? Also I do not see you mentioning interface administrator flag in your request for adminship, so you will need to ask the community separately about it. --Base (talk) 17:42, 28 December 2024 (UTC)
- Geossegawa (missed ping) --Base (talk) 17:43, 28 December 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you. I have no objection with your idea of offering me one month but would be able to do more once offered a slightly longer period of time probably three months. Regarding the interface administrator flag and the community request I go ahead and ask but the community at lg.wikipedia isn't one that attracts much of the responses so it will end here anyway Geossegawa (talk) 18:29, 28 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Base: Since this request has been sitting for some time, would you be willing to go ahead and close it? Since you stated that you were willing to grant a short-term adminship, it's probably best to let you do the honor accordingly. EPIC (talk) 19:52, 13 January 2025 (UTC)

I am writing to formally request the reinstatement of my Regular Adminship rights, along with the addition of Interface Adminship privileges. The Interface rights would enable me to effectively address and resolve issues with broken CSS and JSON pages, which often disrupt user experience and site functionality. Having previously held admin privileges, I am well-acquainted with the responsibilities and challenges that come with the role. During my tenure, I actively tackled issues such as vandalism, spam, and technical concerns, contributing to the smooth functioning of our platform. I am eager to resume this role and continue supporting our community with the same dedication and effectiveness. Thank you for considering my request. Isaac Kanguya? - @EPIC Thank you. By the way, is there any additional requirement to become a permanent administrator? Veracious (talk) 08:52, 14 January 2025 (UTC)
- There are no absolute requirements set in stone but the general requirements are listed at MVR. In short, the community should be large enough for permanent administrators and there should be a sufficient amount of votes (generally at least five). EPIC (talk) 09:05, 14 January 2025 (UTC)
- I mean this request has seven votes so almost definitely the former. --SHB (t ? c) 09:17, 14 January 2025 (UTC)
- Yes, in this case it's the former, mainly considering the size of the community/amount of active users on the project and the edit counts of the voters. EPIC (talk) 09:19, 14 January 2025 (UTC)

- I mean this request has seven votes so almost definitely the former. --SHB (t ? c) 09:17, 14 January 2025 (UTC)
- (Edit conflict.) @Veracious: MVR#Permanent Administrator would be it – I assume it's because of the first criteria (which will probably no longer be the case once you renew your adminship). --SHB (t ? c) 09:05, 14 January 2025 (UTC)
- There are no absolute requirements set in stone but the general requirements are listed at MVR. In short, the community should be large enough for permanent administrators and there should be a sufficient amount of votes (generally at least five). EPIC (talk) 09:05, 14 January 2025 (UTC)
- @EPIC Thank you. By the way, is there any additional requirement to become a permanent administrator? Veracious (talk) 08:52, 14 January 2025 (UTC)

Grretings.I am requesting administrator and interface admin rights for the Tulu Wiktionary. This wiki currently has no administrators, and I am part of the team that worked to bring this project out of the incubator. Thank you Bharathesha Alasandemajalu (talk) 05:10, 12 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Bharathesha Alasandemajalu may I ask, where this request has been advertised? I have no objection to granting temporary admin + interface admin persmissions, given that all votes appear to be from active community members (per MVR probably starting with a year, given your experience as a tcywiki sysop), I was just surprised, that the request page is not linked at anywhere [1], e.g. not at your project's community portal (and not even to a wikidata item for corresponding pages in other projects for requesting adminship). I am requesting for general and interface admin rights for the Chavacano de Zamboanga Wikipedia. There are currently no administrators, and I would like to import templates and modules, protect pages, and assist in translation and upkeep. Thank you. Aristorkle (talk) 12:42, 8 January 2025 (UTC)

I'm not sure if we need to wait a whole week (as per MVR) for a temporary RfA request with a duration of two weeks. Wikibooks:Administrators does not have a minimum time requirement. Leaderboard (talk) 04:02, 14 January 2025 (UTC)
- All discussions need to last a week, but since it's only two days left I'll place on hold for the remaining two days. EPIC (talk) 05:24, 14 January 2025 (UTC)
- One for discussion on WB. The RFP page says "about a week" and doesn't specifically exclude temp admins from that. If the project wants a different policy it should discuss and agree it for the future MarcGarver (talk) 08:35, 14 January 2025 (UTC)
- @MarcGarver From EPIC's reply above, it appears that there is a hard minimum waiting period of 1 week. Or is it that if the community policy says five days for instance, that can be honoured by the steward? Leaderboard (talk) 08:41, 14 January 2025 (UTC)
- In my opinion, stewards are acting in the absence of a local bureaucrat and should follow the local policy. That's what they do, for example, for inactivity de-sysops. Probably best let EPIC answer what they meant! MarcGarver (talk) 08:54, 14 January 2025 (UTC)
- Per MVR discussions should be open for at least a week, at least if it's being granted from the stewards' side (If enwikibooks decides to elect a local bureaucrat then they may perhaps be able to enforce their own rules if they decide that discussions can be open for a shorter amount of time) - that's what I initially meant. EPIC (talk) 09:08, 14 January 2025 (UTC)
- @EPIC, @Leaderboard, @MarcGarver: In the RfA, I said that MVR also appears to imply that the minimum length of adminship is three months, but Leaderboard suggested that it didn't apply in my case. Is that also a hard requirement? JJPMaster (she/they) 14:35, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
- No, there is no fixed length for temporary adminship. How long temporary adminship is granted is decided on a case-to-case basis, but it's generally not granted below three months, except if the user explicitly requests a shorter tenure or in some other exceptional cases. EPIC (talk) 14:40, 15 January 2025 (UTC)

Dear global administrators. I was administrator (and interface administrator) of Karakalpak Wikipedia (kaa.wikipedia.org) from December 2022 till September 2024 continuously. During my adminship I corrected many pages with mistakes, deleted pages with wrong names and etc. I'm in a good relationship with other users, so I ask administrator and interface administrator access. I put a discussion on kaawiki admins page on 03.12.2024 and it has passed more than required 7 days. Just for your information and thank you in advance. Hello. On September 2024, I filled my candidacy for adminship on kaa.wikipedia.org. I met all the criteria specified for adminship on the kaawiki project (at least four people must vote (number of votes: yes 8, no 0), number of edits at least 500 (at that time I had put my candidacy on the kaa.wikipedia page with 1700 edits).
I am currently actively editing the Karakalpak Wikipedia.
From now on, I would like to have an adminship in the Karakalpak Wikipedia project in order to work more efficiently and improve it. Thank you. Janabaevazizbek (talk) 17:14, 18 January 2025 (UTC)
- Unfortunately we cannot accept this discussion in its current state. It has been open for way too long. You need to meet MVR requirements, so the discussion should be open for at least a week, but only about 1-1.5 months at most. Four months is not a valid request, you will need to open a fresh discussion. You can return here with a new request after a week has passed and we'll grant if there have been no objections. I will therefore have to close this as

Hello, 4 days ago I got admin rights in Kazakh Wiktionary, but I can't change css and some templates, because I need interface admin rights, please give me rights. Thanks -- Murat Karibay (talk) 07:32, 18 January 2025 (UTC)
Not done. @Murat Karibay per MVR you need to open a local request for interface adminship, your previous discussion only mentioned adminship [2][3]. Personal opinion: Interface admin permissions are quite sensitive and inexperienced users can easily break stuff. If there are specific changes you want to make which require IA permissions, you should ask at Steward requests/Miscellaneous for global sysops / stewards to do the change for you. --Johannnes89 (talk) 09:27, 18 January 2025 (UTC)

Please grant me checkuser rights on uzwiki for an indefinite period. Since "On any wiki, there must be at least two users with CheckUser status, or none at all", I'm creating two requests simultaneously, the other being for Malikxan (see the separate nomination below). I've met the requirements for appointing local CheckUsers: I received 100% support, with 28 votes. I've already signed the NDA. Nataev talk 19:23, 25 December 2024 (UTC)

- As an active user and sysop, I would like to express my opinion. I respect the community's decision, but how big was the demand for the checkuser that you decided to choose one? There have been only 3 checkuser requests in the last 3 years for uzwiki which one of them was rejected: [4]. As far as I can see, none of the candidacies mention this demand, nor do they provide examples. It's just "our project has grown significantly and the number of users has increased, so there is a need" written as a reason, but where the need is is not mentioned. I don't think is a valid reason. I wonder what the stewards think about this. Nemoralis (talk) 23:10, 1 January 2025 (UTC)
- We don't opinionate on a community decision, but we are reviewing the circumstances of the revision and hope to have an answer in the next 24 hours. If it helps your analysis, there have been 5 sets of checks ran since 2020 on that wiki, with some related to crosswiki LTAs making a mess. -- Amanda (she/her) 04:06, 2 January 2025 (UTC)
- Hi, @Nemoralis! One of the key reasons we need local checkusers is due to the WikiStipendiya edit-a-thon. To give some context, the Youth Affairs Agency of Uzbekistan, the project's sponsors, has insisted on offering large cash prizes since the initiative was launched in 2022. Despite our user group's calls for more reasonable reductions, last month they awarded prizes of up to 20 million UZS (around 1,500 USD)! (Their original plan was to offer 275 million UZS, roughly 29,000 USD, to a few groups of users!)
- To make matters worse, last year they made the unfortunate decision to encourage users to form competing groups. As we anticipated, this led to various questionable activities, including the creation of sockpuppet accounts to report members of other groups on a dedicated forum for abusing the Content Translation tool. In light of all this, I took the lead in convincing the agency to abandon the idea of awarding prizes to groups in favor of recognizing individual users.
- We're currently in discussions with the Youth Affairs Agency to continue our collaboration. While we are pushing for dropping cash prizes and a shift away from focusing on quantity over quality, we remain concerned that disruptive behavior could continue. Moreover, having to report cases on meta takes time and effort, and at least in one case by the time we requested a checkuser here on meta, the necessary data was no longer there. Hence the need for local checkusers. Nataev talk 19:36, 2 January 2025 (UTC)

No administrative actions for 1 year, rights expired per local policy. Strainu (talk) 12:41, 25 December 2024 (UTC)
- They used the suppressredirect right on 22 October this year [5] which is part of the sysop toolkit. Does this not count as an admin action? EPIC (talk) 12:57, 25 December 2024 (UTC)
- Courtesy ping to Strainu. EPIC (talk) 13:04, 25 December 2024 (UTC)
- @EPIC per the quoted policy, we use the adminstats tool to indicate whether any actions was performed, so I guess no. Strainu (talk) 13:26, 25 December 2024 (UTC)
- Looking at the group rights page, it seems this right is not specific to Admins, so it's normal not to be included in the tool. Strainu (talk) 13:29, 25 December 2024 (UTC)
- The suppressredirect right is not included in any local right on rowiki, except bot and sysop. Also, even if the sysop flag is removed, would the abuse filter editor right also be affected (which cannot be removed by any local user and therefore also requires a steward)? @Andrei Stroe: Pinging a different local administrator/former bureaucrat for a second opinion. EPIC (talk) 13:40, 25 December 2024 (UTC)
- w:ro:WP:FM says that any administrator can be an abuse filter editor, but for other users a discussion is needed. I don't have a strong opinion on the subject, I believe the right won't be abused if kept. Strainu (talk) 15:16, 25 December 2024 (UTC)
- When policy wording is vague, which in this case "special actions" is, the benefit goes to the user in assumptions that are made. This is a decline for me. Also, the abusefilter page says in principle any admin can ask for the right, but there is no process. -- Amanda (she/her) 18:09, 25 December 2024 (UTC)
- For sysop rights the policy wording is not vague, it explicitly asks for adminstats to be used:
Administratorii ?i birocra?ii ??i pierd permisiunile speciale ?n urma unei perioade mai mari de 1 an f?r? ac?iuni speciale (constatat? prin consultarea acestui link).

- In English:
Administrators and bureaucrats loose their special permissions after 1 year without special actions (found by consulting this link).
┌─────────────────────────────────┘
- What are "special actions"? How are they defined in policy? Yes it has the link after it, but even reading through the original discussion, I don't think anyone argued for any specific right to not be included. The language used is inclusive by not spelling them out. Since this has global precedent, and there is not local policy excluding it, I'm going to mark this as

- Although the rights have been removed, it'd be nice to get a statement from Holder before it will be archived here. Furthermore, I'm pinging Luki for both, transparency and respect for his past work. The RfC mentions similar process on dewiki, for example, where users are also noticed a month in advance that their rights will be removed (recent example). Has this just not been considered by barwiki or is it an explicit wish? Especially for users who are still active on other projects, it might make more sense to withdraw the adminrights themselves. Of course, local projects can make their own decisions about it. Just sharing some thoughts here. Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 22:40, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- The local policy requires 1 year of local inactivity and not 1 year of inactivity in all Wikimedia projects. As EPIC wrote, it was not common to inform inactive users before removing the rights. And yes, the dewiki has different rules, but these are not the standard for all language projects. The last global edit by Luki is from May 2024, so he's not "still active". Best regards --Holder (talk) 06:02, 7 January 2025 (UTC)

- Please don't mass ping random users. Your request will be handled when a steward has the time and willingness to do so. With that being said, this isn't a place for jokes. Are you actually requesting the removal of your rights? If yes, please state that now. EPIC (talk) 07:52, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
- yes sir i would not like my rights because the people on the wiki says that i misused the rights sir. Feeglgeef (talk) 07:53, 9 January 2025 (UTC)

- sir you are the vandal who keeps vandalizing my request please stop vandalizing my request sir. Feeglgeef (talk) 08:05, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
- As I stated privately, I saw the initial decline as "don't post here unless you're actually resigning". Since the user confirmed that they wanted their rights removed, the request was placed on hold again since we can't really reject a resignation anyway. I won't reverse this, though, it's ultimately your call. EPIC (talk) 08:11, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
- I'm not going to say too much here, especially all the more that this is something for stews to discuss, but I'm with EPIC that you can't really reject a resignation, especially all the more so for someone who clearly cannot be trusted to hold sysop perms – but as mentioned earlier, I won't get involved with that. Anyway given Feeglgeef's poor behaviour and repeated insults has extended outside this page, I've extended their block + changed it sitewide. --SHB (t ? c) 08:25, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
- Their resignation is conditional on events outside of the 1 day holding period. I'm not here to play games with that nonsense. If they want to make an (unconditional) resgination, they can do it on Wikifunctions and a neutral community member can post here for removal. —?JJMC89?(T·C) 08:33, 9 January 2025 (UTC)

- FYI I've de-sysopped them just now, per their resignation combined with an abusive block [8]. Also informed the other stewards in the IRC channel. EPIC (talk) 08:45, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
- Wow that was rich coming from Feeglgeef – thanks for removing the blocks, EPIC. SHB (t ? c) 08:49, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for the emergency de-sysop, that was definetly the right decision because of the 2x sysop-tool abuse, ignoring the confusing resignation process. TenWhile6 12:21, 9 January 2025 (UTC)

Not done Bnwiki has no local mass message sender right, and mass messages will therefore need to be sent by a local sysop. If you are requesting mass message sender rights here on Meta, please place a request on RfH. EPIC (talk) 16:33, 11 January 2025 (UTC)
